Star Trek Online

What does everyone that has pre-ordered/in the beta think about it?

I'm finding it pretty enjoyable, overall its a good game and has the potential to be the best so much more, even to overtake wow's popularity in time

Although some have said its not very good atm its still in beta and not to mention if anyone here played wow when it first came out the amount of bugs and shit they had but now its one of the most polished mmo's if not the most polished 1 ever made.

also I'm sure if you recommend away for them to improve it I'm sure they will take note as they seem very dedicated e.g. like the other day they fixed a load of bugs with a 800+mb patch :amen:

It was alright at the start of the week. Didn't look bad and was alot of fun. Not sure what happened to the 800mb patch for me. It should of taken me the best part of 2hrs to download yet i went away and watch some of the footy that was on and 20-30mins later it had finished!! Hope it patched properly.

Anyway. Since the patch its just as fun and the new images, maps etc really look nice now. Its nice to see Cryptic putting in so much work.

There's still work for them to do, but they've still got some time ;)

It's the difference between patch and patched, the game is 800 meg and the patch will patch the game and verify the client versions as it goes so will check all 800meg and patch what it needs to. I think todays was something like 100meg, but when it had downloaded 50meg over 300 meg was patched.

I'm enjoying the game and would purchase life time subscription if i had the money available. Surprised how much i'm enjoying it :)

Open instances with a bunch of other players taking out fleets of klingons look epic.

I bought the lifetime, figure if anything it might be a decent investment, selling an account with lifetime sub later on in the game with some good characters could be good money.

does it get re-set, then those who pre-ordered it get 4 days head start, how does head start work? I figured since it was only till lvl 16 they would just let you continue on.

Nah it resets apparently, it makes sense tbh and the head start begins on the 29th (http://www.startrekonline.com/openbeta) release dates the 5th of feb aint it?

which sounds like it must stop for a couple days then start again?

Theres still another two days left of the beta. I might play a little more and experiment with the ships abit.

Anyway everything gets reset, people that have pre-ordered it start playing this friday which means here in europe we get to play it 7 days before the release, instead of 3/4 days in America. 8)

They removed the level cap and opened up some more areas of the game last thursday/friday. The notes for it are in the STO launcher news.

Well, it's not like eve, apart from it's in space.

It's pretty good, and I can see a lot of good updates in the future, I was looking at the Galaxy map and it only has the alpha and beta quadrants on it, and there are Gamma and Delta quadrants to include, plus there isn't that much space to fly around in (well there is, but there is a lot more areas of the galaxy map that can be added yet).

There is an image somewhere, but I cannae find it.

Headstart starts sometime today :) There was a small update yesterday and we'll probably see another update when the servers come back online again.
