Aerelon Gaming was first formed in early 2006 (around March). Initially the idea was to get a team together and be a competitive match team. Although we had a lot of fun it was clear to us that we wanted to expand further than just a clan. We already had a large number of members for a clan, around 15, mainly those of us who came from a different clan, plus a few cool chaps we met along the way.
It was around this time the 'council' (the Aerelon Gaming leaders) decided we should increase the clan and become a fully fledged community. We soon had many new members, and although not exactly being much of a competitive clan (lol) we were having a great time playing counter-strike source, battlefield 2 and many other online games!
With the large number of members, many of which wanting matches it was decided a second team was needed, so we tried many times to get the second team up and running. It was a lot harder than we thought it would be, with noone really wanting the responsibility of running and organising a team. A good time later, in early February 2007 we had another burst of players join our community, these were intent on getting matches and having fun. So in early March the community squad was started. This team never really gelled together and didnt do well in any of the ladders or leagues we played in. During this time after many roster changes our first team was doing well in ED and was moving swiftly up the tables.
Fast forwarding past the boring parts of the year, many new players joining the community and the community squad still not working well as a team it was decided to re-structure the community squads. We decided to have 2 match teams, called Team 1 and Team 2, both under the same flag (AG.) It was the idea that neither team was better or worse than each other.
Team 1 was seeing hard times, with a number of key players leaving or having computer difficulties and matches had become almost non-existant. Team 2 was still doing poorly but we had entered into the EDCSSL league and been accepted, we had also been accepted into CAL (Cyber athletic Amateur League) and the team for this was a mix of both teams.
Another fast forward to early 2008 and after another re-arrange of teams, Team 2 did exceptionally well in EDCSSL coming 2nd in group 8, only losing one game. CAL was a huge disappointment with most of the arranged matches being forfeited by the opposition. Needless to say we will give CAL another go. Team 2 is currently the stronger team and doing very well in the ED open ladder (going up!!), with Team 1 currently training and getting back into the game.
Aerelon Gaming now have a number of game servers and we play a good few games, with teams in CSS, TF2 (not exactly a match game but we have a team!) and Call of Duty 4.
